Cater PGH · How it works

How a kitchen is read

Cater PGH catalogs 2,581 independent catering kitchens. We don't sell sponsored placements, take referral fees, or quote menus. The pages exist to put a real booking call between the planner and the kitchen.

What we cover

Six event types are tracked on every listing — corporate events, wedding catering, cuisine-specific menus, drop-off catering, staffed events, and custom menu planning. For every kitchen we screen public sources (their own website, Google Maps, review snippets) and tag each event type as detected with the source on file, or not seen. The detail page makes the source of every claim visible.

How we treat evidence

Catering review data is messy. Most "evidence" scraped from a caterer's site is half-sentence menu navigation that nobody can use. So we do four things on every listing.

First, we strip mid-word fragments, navigation menus, and UI residuals like "Get a Quote" and "Order Now" before anything is shown. Second, we separate copy from the kitchen's own site from customer mentions — first-person sentences ("we hired them for our wedding") move to the customer side. Third, we mark a listing Standalone profile when at least three pieces of public evidence support the claim, and Limited record when they don't. Fourth, we keep a Mise en Place fact sheet on every detail page — phone, site, kitchen base, specialty, profile tier — as plain receipts.

What we don't do

No paid editorial. No sponsored placements. No referral commissions. No fabricated quotes, fabricated phone numbers, or fabricated event-type capabilities. We don't write menus, set prices, or quote contracts on behalf of a caterer — those conversations happen between the planner and the kitchen.

Why "PGH"

The brand is Cater PGH, where PGH stands for Party & Gathering Hub — not Pittsburgh. The abbreviation is decoupled from any single city on purpose, because we cover the entire United States and a city-specific name would suggest a service area that doesn't match the data.
